On Tuesday, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President Tô Lâm departed from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, concluding a successful two-day state visit. This visit served as a precursor to his forthcoming trip to Ireland at the invitation of President Michael D. Higgins. During his stay in Mongolia, President Lâm engaged in fruitful discussions, holding talks with President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, meeting the Chairman of the Parliament Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan, and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene. He also had the honor of attending the inaugural Việt Nam Cultural Day 2024. President Lâm’s itinerary included a visit to Inter-Level School No. 14, named in honor of President Hồ Chí Minh, where he interacted with local educators and students. His visit further encompassed meetings with staff from the Vietnamese Embassy, members of the Vietnamese community in Mongolia, and representatives from various Mongolian business organizations. During their meetings, both sides expressed high regard for the enduring friendship that has characterized Vietnam-Mongolia relations for over seventy years. A collective pledge was made to strengthen collaboration in critical areas such as national defense and security, law enforcement, trade and investment, agriculture, science, transportation, culture, sports, tourism, education, labor, environmental issues, and social welfare. Moreover, they formalized their commitments by signing seven memoranda of understanding intended to bolster cooperation between relevant ministries and organizations.
