The PCB had previously appointed Aaqib as the head coach for the white-ball formats in light of Jason Gillespie declining the offer to become the all-format coach. Aaqib is currently the senior national selector and is accompanying the players to Zimbabwe for a series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals before they proceed to South Africa for further competitions.
