FICAC Initiates Investigation Into Walesi Following Audit Findings

FICAC has appointed a taskforce to investigate an audit revealing over $123 million disbursed for Walesi operations from 2015 to 2022, deeming it a case of national interest. The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has launched a dedicated taskforce to delve into the findings of an audit concerning Walesi PTE LTD. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, recently provided FICAC with a copy of the audit report. According to the report, the Fijian Government allocated approximately $123.6 million for the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Project, specifically for the operations of Walesi from 2015 to 2022. Commissioner Barbara Malimali has assigned Assistant Manager of Investigations at the Economic Crimes Unit, Alifereti Wakanivesi, to spearhead the investigation, which commenced today.
