EU Commends Ethiopia-Somalia Agreement Facilitated by Türkiye

President Erdoğan of Türkiye hosted both Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed prior to the signing of the Ankara Declaration. During a joint press conference, Erdoğan noted the agreement as a foundational step towards fostering peace and cooperation between the two nations. Underlining mutual respect, the leaders committed to upholding each other’s sovereignty and adhering to principles outlined in international law, the United Nations Charter, and the African Union’s Constitutive Act.
