He stated, “China is ready to work with India to implement the important common understandings between the leaders of China and India, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, and strengthen mutual trust.”
This engagement comes in the aftermath of a prolonged military standoff that began in May 2020, culminating in a deadly clash in Galwan Valley in June of the same year, which severely impacted diplomatic ties. The Special Representatives’ mechanism was established in 2003 to comprehensively tackle the complex India-China border dispute, which stretches approximately 3,488 kilometers.
