Syria’s Foreign Minister Embarks on Diplomatic Visits to Gulf Nations

In his statement on X, Minister al-Shaibani expressed, “This week, I will represent my country, Syria, on an official visit to our brothers in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. We look forward to these visits contributing to support stability, security, economic recovery, and building distinguished partnerships.” Earlier this week, Shaibani headed a prominent delegation to Riyadh, which included the defense minister and the intelligence chief of the new government.

This visit to Saudi Arabia represents the first foreign engagement by Syria’s new leaders following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad last month. Moreover, a Saudi delegation had previously met with Ahmed al-Sharaa, Syria’s new leader and head of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, in Damascus.
