India’s economy, Modi asserted, is now the fifth largest globally, with aspirations of becoming the third largest soon, having lifted 250 million people from poverty in the past decade. He noted that this edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was especially significant, coinciding closely with the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who played a pivotal role in establishing the event.
