Iran Supports Iraq’s Efforts in Human Rights and Anti-Terrorism Initiatives

Iran’s deputy representative, Mahdi Aliabadi, expressed support for Iraq’s legislative efforts to enhance human rights and combat terrorism at the UN’s Universal Periodic Review. At the 48th session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review held in Geneva on January 27, Mahdi Aliabadi, the deputy permanent representative of Iran, addressed the situation in Iraq. He expressed Iran’s warm welcome to the Iraqi delegation led by the Minister of Justice, praising recent legislative efforts to enhance human rights in Iraq.

Iran particularly commended Iraq for enacting new laws related to health insurance, retirement, legal aid, and the rights of persons with disabilities.
