Cameroon 2025: SDF Initiates 90,000 Election Monitors to Combat Fraud

To address the weakness of inadequate vote monitoring in rural areas, the SDF is targeting the deployment and training of 90,000 election monitors. Louis-Marie Kakdeu, the party’s second vice-president, stated the aim is to mobilize three election monitors per polling station, thereby bolstering transparency against electoral fraud.

In preparation for the upcoming elections, candidates wishing to run under the SDF banner must adhere to stringent criteria. This includes submitting a complete application along with a non-refundable fee of 50 million FCFA (approximately $82,000 USD), intended to fund the party’s campaign activities.

The selection of the SDF’s presidential nominee will occur during an extraordinary congress in the near future, aligned with the internal regulations of the party. Given the impending elections, the SDF faces a critical evaluation, not only in identifying a robust candidate but also in maintaining electoral integrity amid the ruling party’s dominance.
