Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Md Touhid Hossain, discussed enhanced energy cooperation with Oman’s Foreign Minister during the 8th Indian Ocean Conference. Hossain requested Oman’s consideration for the recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi professionals. On February 17, 2023, Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Md Touhid Hossain, expressed the nation’s interest in fostering deeper collaboration with Oman in the energy sector. This discussion occurred during the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, where he met with Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi. They addressed various mutual interests and underscored the strength of the diplomatic relations between both countries.

The officials acknowledged the upcoming 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Oman, agreeing on the importance of commemorating this milestone. Adviser Hossain extended an invitation to Minister Albusaidi to visit Bangladesh for the celebrations, further solidifying their bilateral connection.

Adviser Hossain expressed gratitude to the Omani government for accommodating numerous Bangladeshi expatriates, who contribute to both economies. He subsequently requested the recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi professionals, including doctors, engineers, IT specialists, nurses, and shipbuilding technicians, to support Oman’s labor needs.

Additionally, the adviser engaged with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan Al Muraikhi, to express similar gratitude for Qatar’s acceptance of Bangladeshi expatriates. Hossain emphasized the potential for Bangladeshi professionals in various fields and invited Qatari representatives to Bangladesh to explore recruitment options. He also welcomed investments from Qatar, highlighting the need for private sector visits to identify investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
