India Criticizes Pakistan for Misinformation Regarding Jammu and Kashmir
India has criticized Pakistan for spreading falsehoods about Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it a “failed state” reliant on foreign aid. India’s Permanent Mission to the UN highlighted the advancement in the region contrary to Pakistan’s claims and urged Pakistan to focus on its internal problems rather than targeting India. The discourse reflects the ongoing diplomatic tensions between both nations.
India has strongly condemned Pakistan for spreading misinformation regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Kshitij Tyagi, India’s Permanent Mission representative at the UN in Geneva, labeled Pakistan as a “failed state” that survives on international aid and accused its leaders of disseminating narratives dictated by the military.
Tyagi articulated his discontent in light of Pakistani Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar’s accusations of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the irony of Pakistan’s conduct amidst its own domestic challenges.
He criticized Pakistan for misusing international platforms to advance anti-India sentiments while ignoring necessary reforms at home. “Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC by abusing it as its mouthpiece, wasting the council’s time with its failed state rhetoric,” Tyagi stated, underscoring India’s commitment to democracy and progress.
Reiterating India’s position, Tyagi asserted that Jammu and Kashmir, along with Ladakh, are integral parts of India, highlighting significant advancements in the region despite Pakistan’s claims of unrest. He cited unprecedented political, social, and economic progress as indicative of the trust the people place in the Indian government.
Tyagi asserted that Pakistan, known for its human rights abuses and support for UN-sanctioned terrorists, lacks credibility to comment on human rights or democracy. He urged Pakistan to redirect its focus on governance rather than obsession with India. He further stated, “It is unfortunate that this Council’s time continues to be wasted by a failed state which thrives on instability and survives on international handouts.”
Previously, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, also underscored the status of Jammu and Kashmir as an inalienable part of India in a UNSC Open Debate, echoing Tyagi’s sentiments and reinforcing India’s stance against Pakistan’s narratives.
The exchange at the UN emphasizes India’s commitment to assert its sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir while condemning Pakistan’s attempts to tarnish India’s image through spurious allegations.
