Tehran, Feb 27 (Bernama) – Malaysia and Iran have reiterated their strong commitment to humanitarian initiatives aimed at addressing the violence inflicted by Israel on Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. This commitment was highlighted by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan following a 30-minute meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian during a courtesy call.
In the discussions, the ministers emphasized the importance of a united front against terrorism in the aforementioned regions, especially concerning proposals from Israel to relocate the Palestinian population from Gaza. The upcoming Arab Emergency Summit, which will convene on March 4, was identified as a key event that would influence future discussions at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled for March 7.
Additionally, reports emerged from previous announcements that Egypt would host the Arab Summit to deliberate on plans for the reconstruction of Gaza while ensuring that the Palestinian population remains in their homeland. This initiative follows concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal regarding Gaza.
Mohamad Hasan further remarked on the significance of the evolving situation in the Middle East, expressing Malaysia’s deep concerns. Discussions surrounding proposals from Egypt and Saudi Arabia related to managing Gaza post-ceasefire were also highlighted. The hope is to establish a durable ceasefire that can facilitate reconstruction efforts in the region.
In summary, Malaysia and Iran are steadfast in their humanitarian commitments to support Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria amid ongoing challenges. Their discussions and the forthcoming Arab Emergency Summit serve as pivotal moments to address these crises and seek constructive resolutions, ensuring the well-being of the affected populations without displacement.
