Qatari and Libyan Leaders Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Challenges

On Tuesday in Doha, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani engaged in discussions with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. The talks focused on bilateral cooperation and significant regional issues, particularly concerning the ongoing situations in Gaza and Syria, as reported by the Foreign Ministry, according to News.Az citing Anadolu.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for Libya’s unity and the aspirations of its people for stability and development. He emphasized his nation’s complete backing for the Libyan political process, adherence to relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the pursuit of peaceful solutions to safeguard Libya’s sovereignty.
International and local attempts are currently underway to facilitate elections in Libya to resolve the ongoing power struggle between two rival governments. The Government of National Unity, led by Dbeibeh in Tripoli, is recognized by the United Nations, while the rival administration, appointed by the House of Representatives and headed by Osama Hamad, operates from Benghazi.
The citizens of Libya are hopeful that the long-awaited elections will bring an end to the prevailing political and armed conflicts and successfully conclude the transitional phases following the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, which lasted from 1969 to 2011.
