Nahom Araya Triumphs in Stage 6 of Tour du Rwanda; Fabien Doubey Retains Yellow Jersey

Eritrean Nahom Araya won Stage 6 of the Tour du Rwanda, while Frenchman Fabien Doubey reclaimed the yellow jersey. Moise Mugisha, the leading Rwandan cyclist, finished in sixth place. The seventh and final stage will take place on March 2, 2024.
In a thrilling contest at the Tour du Rwanda, Eritrean rider Nahom Araya from the Eritrean National Team emerged victorious in Stage 6, covering a distance of 131.5 kilometers from Nyanza to Canal Olympia (Rebero) in a time of 3 hours, 9 minutes, and 23 seconds. Rwandan cyclist Moise Mugisha initially led the peloton during the last 3 kilometers, but Araya successfully overtook him with a margin of 10 seconds, finishing the stage in first place. Mugisha ultimately secured sixth position.
French cyclist Fabien Doubey, representing TotalEnergies, regained the yellow jersey after losing it to teammate Joris Delbove in Stage 4. Upon reclaiming the lead, Doubey signaled a strong performance after the Eritrean national team had previously celebrated Henok Mulubrhan’s Stage 1 victory, who currently stands third overall in the general classification.
Additionally, Rwandan rider Vainqueur Masengesho improved his standing from ninth to seventh in the general classification, finishing 54 seconds behind Araya. The final stage, a circuit race of 74 kilometers around the course designated for the 2025 UCI Road World Championships at the Kigali Convention Centre, is scheduled for Sunday, March 2.
The results of Stage 6 solidified Nahom Araya’s prowess in the competition, while Fabien Doubey’s return to the yellow jersey showcased his resilience.
