Initially, organizers modified the route after rain affected portions of the City of Kigali, ultimately leading to the decision to cancel the race entirely.
Heavy rainfall commenced around 11:30 AM, just before the planned 12 PM start of the 72km final stage. Although the initial downpour did not pose an immediate threat to the event, conditions markedly deteriorated during the first lap. UCI officials determined that the race could not proceed under the prevailing circumstances and subsequently nullified the final stage, confirming the overall standings based on the earlier Stage 6 results.
Having entered the final stage as the leader of the general classification, Doubey was awarded the victory, accumulating a total race duration of 19 hours, 35 minutes, and 12 seconds. This result placed him just six seconds ahead of Eritrea’s Henok Mulubrahan. At 31 years of age, Doubey sets a new milestone as the oldest rider to claim a win in the Rwandan race.
Additionally, the Tour du Rwanda 2025 showcased commendable performances from Rwandan participants, notably Vainqueur Masengesho of Team Rwanda, who secured seventh place overall, finishing 51 seconds behind Doubey. Furthermore, Shemu Nsengiyumva from Java-InovoTec earned the best climber accolade, while Samuel Niyonkuru of Kenyan Team Amani was recognized as the best breakaway rider.
