Senatorial Candidates Amplify Campaign Efforts for Eleksyon 2025

Recently, numerous senatorial candidates have intensified their campaigns nationwide as the election for 2025 approaches. Labor leader Sonny Matula articulated his goals for better living wages, the termination of contractual employment, and the eradication of workplace violence and harassment. Matula emphasized his commitment to these issues during a meeting with Women Workers United (WWU) in Biñan, Laguna, stating, “As a candidate for senator in May, I wholeheartedly accept this agenda and, should I win, I will fight for it in the Senate.”

Additionally, Matula, serving as president of the Federation of Free Workers, endorsed the eight-point electoral agenda put forth by the women’s group, which demands improved public services, social protections, anti-corruption measures, recognition of caregiving roles, enhanced support for unionism, climate justice initiatives, and meaningful participation of women workers in transitioning sectors.

In Zamboanga City, labor leaders Leody de Guzman and Luke Espiritu announced their opposition to large-scale fishing operations, advocating for a ban on such practices within 15 kilometers of the coastline. Concurrently, independent candidates Ariel Querubin and Bonifacio Bosita addressed attendees at a road safety awareness seminar hosted by the Road Safety Advocates of the Philippines (RSAP) to discuss critical safety issues on the roads.

Senator Bong Go, speaking to the Lady Local Legislators’ League of the Philippines, reiterated his focus on addressing issues related to PhilHealth should he secure a second term in the Senate.
