Azerbaijan’s Interference in Armenian-Turkish Normalization Process Highlighted by Speaker

On Tuesday, Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan expressed concerns over Azerbaijan’s disruptive involvement in the Armenian-Turkish normalization process. He emphasized that Armenia’s negotiations with Turkey and Azerbaijan are distinct and urged Ankara not to conflate the two issues. Simonyan criticized Azerbaijan’s interference, alleging it had taken the Armenia-Turkiye relations hostage, which he deemed detrimental to the peace efforts.
Simonyan affirmed Armenia’s commitment to peaceful dialogue and proactive engagement. He expressed hope that Turkey would eventually reciprocate Armenia’s peace overtures and clarify its position regarding the normalization process. He believes that both nations can find a pathway to resolution if Azerbaijan refrains from undermining these relations.
