Consolidated Bank Ghana Advances Water Access for Underserved Communities
Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited has launched a project to provide boreholes in underserved communities across Ghana as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. This aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to ensure access to clean water. Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has initiated a project aimed at constructing boreholes in underserved areas throughout Ghana. This effort reflects the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 6, which promotes the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Clean water access is crucial for health, education, and economic advancement.
Numerous communities in Ghana continue to depend on unsafe water sources, which pose significant health risks and hinder growth. As part of its broader CSR strategy, CBG has collaborated with local communities to assess their needs and implement sustainable initiatives. In total, twenty-six (26) boreholes have been established in areas including Lambussie, Sissala East, Wa West, Techiman South, and the Oti Region, greatly enhancing public health.
The project has successfully benefited numerous communities such as Nchumuru, Asempa Akura, Odeefo, and others, providing them with access to clean water. Community leaders have expressed deep appreciation for CBG’s intervention, emphasizing that reliable water supply will significantly enhance their quality of life. During the handover ceremony, a community chief remarked, “Water is life. With access to clean water, our children will be healthier, and we will be able to focus more on education and business.”
The boreholes were strategically placed in high-need areas to ensure that thousands can have stable access to clean water. Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, Managing Director of CBG, voiced his contentment regarding the Bank’s role in addressing a basic human right. He stated, “Access to clean water is not merely a convenience; it is vital for health. Unfortunately, many still face the challenges and dangers of unsafe water sources. This initiative reflects our commitment to changing that narrative. I urge you all to take ownership of this critical resource and train local community members on its maintenance to create long-term positive impacts.”
