Muslim Media Practitioners Collaborate with Chief Imam of Benin to Promote Accurate Reporting

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Edo State chapter, visited Chief Imam Alhaji Abdulfatah Enabulele to strengthen collaboration for accurate reporting of Islamic matters. The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Edo State chapter, recently met with the Chief Imam of the Benin Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdulfatah Enabulele, to discuss enhancing collaboration aimed at achieving accurate and balanced reporting concerning Islamic issues. This meeting sought to fortify the working relationship between the MMPN and the Chief Imam’s office, specifically targeting the misinformation surrounding Islam and the promotion of positive narratives about the Benin Muslim community, as well as Islam at large.
Chief Imam Enabulele welcomed the MMPN delegation, acknowledging the pivotal role played by Muslim media practitioners. He remarked, “I agree with you that we need to work together. Your coming at this period is timely. This collaboration is very strategic because the media is very key in whatever we do.” He also emphasized the importance of involving other essential Islamic stakeholders in Edo State, including the League of Imams and the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs, to enhance this collaborative effort.
The discussions highlighted the significance of the ongoing Ramadan season, which Imam Enabulele described as a time for self-reflection and community support. He encouraged Muslims to extend kindness and share their blessings with the less privileged, underscoring the importance of prayer and good deeds throughout this holy month.
Mallam Abdullah Abdulkadir, the Acting President of MMPN, indicated that the association has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission since 1997. He stated, “Looking at the strategic nature of your office, we decided to visit you. Our visit aims to explore areas of collaboration with your office as the Chief Imam for impactful progress and development of Islam in the State, particularly in the area of accurate and balanced reporting of Islamic matters.”
The MMPN and the Chief Imam’s office reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate effectively to foster a better understanding of Islam and to encourage positive engagement within the Muslim community throughout Ramadan and beyond.
