GCC Ministerial Council Applauds Qatar’s Efforts and Endorses Gaza Plan

The GCC Ministerial Council praised the cooperation in facilitating a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, highlighted Qatar’s role in hosting the Doha Forum, and supported humanitarian efforts for Palestine. The Council stressed political reforms in Lebanon and Sudan while maintaining a firm stance on Syria and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, reinforcing the unity and commitment of its members to regional stability.

The GCC Ministerial Council recently concluded its meetings in Makkah Al Mukarramah, where it commended the collective efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in pursuing a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The Council emphasized the importance of adherence to the ceasefire, calling for an end to Israeli aggression and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestinian territories.

Additionally, the Council recognized Qatar for hosting the 2024 Doha Forum themed “The Imperative of Innovation” scheduled for December 7, 2024, which aims to facilitate global discussions on pressing issues. The meeting also highlighted the ongoing political developments in the region and reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to unity and enhanced coordination among its members.

In light of the situation in Gaza, the Ministerial Council expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, advocating for an end to the blockade and the unhindered distribution of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents. The Council supported the Palestinian-Egyptian-Arab plan articulated during the “Palestine Summit” held in March 2025, emphasizing the need for a unified Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution.

Moreover, the Council acknowledged the humanitarian efforts of GCC countries in Gaza and underscored the necessity of political engagement to cease Israeli assaults. It also reiterated support for Syria’s sovereignty and called for the cessation of foreign interference in its internal matters, stating that Syria’s stability is crucial for regional security.

The Ministerial Council reiterated its unwavering support for Lebanon, stressing the need for political and economic reforms to mitigate its crises and prevent it from becoming a base for terrorism and illicit activities. Additionally, it affirmed the importance of Sudan’s sovereignty and urged dialogue among Sudanese parties to resolve ongoing issues and maintain national unity.

Finally, the GCC reaffirmed its position regarding the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, emphasizing adherence to international law and respecting the sovereignty of states. The Council also expressed satisfaction with the results of a joint ministerial meeting with Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, and Syria, focusing on enhancing economic relations and pursuing free trade agreements to promote the interests of GCC member states.
