Abdulla Al Hamed was awarded two honorary doctorate degrees by the Salerno School of Medicine in Italy, recognizing his contributions to cultural dialogue and humanitarian efforts. On March 7, 2025, Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and the UAE Media Council, was honored with two honorary doctorate degrees in Humanities and Cooperation between Peoples by the Salerno School of Medicine in Italy. This prestigious institution, one of Europe’s oldest medical universities, recognized Al Hamed for his significant contributions to cultural dialogue and humanitarian initiatives. Additionally, he was granted membership in the Supreme College of the Salerno School of Medicine.

The presentation of the honorary degrees took place at the university’s headquarters, where Pio Vicinanza, the University’s President, officiated the ceremony. This event coincided with the signing of a cultural and scientific cooperation protocol between the UAE and the University of Salerno, which was attended by various academics and academic staff.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman Al Hamed attributed this honor to the unwavering support of the UAE’s leadership, specifically President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He stated, “This honour is the result of the unlimited support of the UAE wise leadership. It embodies the principles of cooperation and intercultural understanding that are central to the UAE’s identity.”

Al Hamed emphasized the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian work and international cooperation, asserting that “the UAE firmly believes that responsibility towards humanity knows no borders.” He highlighted the vital role of communication and mutual understanding among cultures in addressing today’s global challenges.
