Strengthening Armenia-Brazil Relations: A Meeting of Diplomacy and Cooperation

Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan welcomed Brazilian Ambassador Fabio Vaz Pitaluga, discussing the strengthening of Armenia-Brazil relations. On March 7, Vice Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Armenia, Mr. Fabio Vaz Pitaluga. During the meeting, he underscored that despite the geographical distance, Armenia and Brazil have established a strong friendship.
Arshakyan stressed the significance of friendly relations founded on mutual respect and trust between the two nations. He highlighted the importance of enhancing diverse ties with Brazil, acknowledged as a leading nation politically and economically, and noted that resident embassies play a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The NA Deputy Speaker emphasized the necessity of increasing inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly through friendship groups and frequent mutual visits of parliamentarians. This practice, he noted, is vital for deepening the connection between the two countries.
In discussing bilateral relations, Arshakyan pointed out the importance of expanding the legal and contractual framework to facilitate trade and economic partnerships. He articulated Armenia’s interest in enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including education, culture, agriculture, sports, tourism, and scientific research.
Arshakyan commended the effective collaboration between Armenia and Brazil in international organizations. He also addressed regional challenges within the South Caucasus, affirming the Armenian Government’s commitment to establishing peace in the area.
Present at the meeting, Arsen Torosyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Care, discussed the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, aimed at improving regional communications based on sovereignty and reciprocity. Furthermore, the Armenian parliamentarians highlighted ongoing efforts towards signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and addressing concerns regarding Armenian individuals detained in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Pitaluga expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated the importance of fostering inter-parliamentary relations and executing joint projects to enhance cooperation across various domains.
