The fuel from the tanker spilled into a nearby stream, where farmers were working on their rice fields. The ignited fuel triggered a significant fire that rapidly spread back to the tanker, culminating in a massive explosion.
Ibrahim Hussaini described the aftermath, stating, “The inferno engulfed the farmland, destroying the entire rice field, including fruits and vegetation.” As of the latest updates, seven victims have been confirmed dead and one individual hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the explosion.
Those who tragically lost their lives include: Rafiatu Sahabi, Ramlat Shehu, Rashida Abdullahi Raliya, Abdulrahaman, Zainab Ahmed, Zuwaira Idrisu, and Maryam A. Nura. Furthermore, Maimuna Isah, a local farmer, is currently receiving medical attention at Saho Rami Primary Health Care for her injuries sustained in this incident.
