Cricket Association of Nepal Reveals Comprehensive Calendar for 2025

The Cricket Association of Nepal has launched its 2025 cricket calendar, detailing extensive plans for both the men’s and women’s teams. The schedule includes numerous tours, international tournaments, and grassroots initiatives to promote cricket at various levels within the country, as stated by CAN Secretary Paras Khadka.
On Saturday, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) presented its cricketing calendar for the year 2025. This calendar outlines a busy schedule for both the Nepali men’s and women’s senior teams, with numerous international engagements planned throughout the year. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka highlighted the commitment to advancing women’s cricket, stating, “This year will be a busy one for the women’s team.”
The women’s senior team, currently engaged in a quadrangular series in Uganda, has an upcoming tour to Bhutan in April. Subsequently, they will compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers in Thailand in May and the Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup in June. A tri-series is also confirmed in Malaysia involving Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October, with CAN hosting a pentangular series in December, inviting teams from Uganda, Namibia, the UAE, and the Netherlands.
In a significant development, CAN will organize the Women’s Elite Cup in a 50-over format for the first time, scheduled for October. Khadka mentioned the proposal to send the women’s team to Sri Lanka in October, coinciding with the Nepali men’s tour of Sri Lanka in July, which is intended as preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Oman later that year.
The men’s team will also travel to India, Australia, and the UAE in August and September for further preparations, as they strive to qualify for the World Cup and accrue points in the CWC League 2. Additionally, Nepal will participate in a CWC League 2 tri-series involving Scotland and the Netherlands in June.
The calendar also includes provisions for player retention, release processes, and a mini auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), scheduled for June and August, respectively. “The date for the second NPL will be revealed once it is accepted by the International Cricket Council (ICC),” added Khadka.
Lastly, CAN plans to host a National School Championship aimed at SEE-graduate students in May, emphasizing the need for investment in grassroots cricket. Khadka noted ongoing coordination with district and provincial bodies and other stakeholders to promote cricket throughout the country.
In conclusion, the Cricket Association of Nepal has articulated a comprehensive calendar for 2025, underscoring their commitment to both men’s and women’s cricket development. With a focus on international competitions and grassroots initiatives, CAN aims to enhance the overall landscape of cricket in Nepal. The inclusion of new tournaments and international tours emphasizes their drive to elevate Nepali cricket on the global stage.
