Titled “Securing the Legacy: Debriefing from Paris 2024 for Future Major Sporting Events,” this event, held at UN headquarters in New York, commemorated the fifth anniversary of the UNOCT Global Sports Programme.

In her address, Her Excellency Sheikha Alya highlighted Qatar’s innovative contributions to the Global Sports Programme, particularly in combating terrorism through capacity-building initiatives for member states. She recognized Qatar’s effective hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, where the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy implemented comprehensive security measures that ensured safety for both spectators and athletes. This involved a holistic strategy integrating advanced technology and international cooperation, establishing the tournament as a benchmark for sports security globally.

The meeting also included insights from Lt Col Ali Mohammed al-Ali, Director of the Arab and International Police Communication Department at the Ministry of Interior.
