In Monrovia, two lawmakers from Liberia’s Majority Bloc, Rep. Foday Fahnbulleh and Rep. Ivar Jones, experienced unusual incidents at their offices on Friday morning. Rep. Fahnbulleh, representing Bong County District Seven, discovered a juju, a traditional African ritual object, within his office. He posted on Facebook about the finding, exclaiming, “This is what was found in my office a few minutes ago. Juju entered Capitol Building! God is in control.”

When questioned regarding how the juju came to be in his office, Rep. Fahnbulleh expressed uncertainty and refrained from attributing blame for this event, stating, “I don’t want to blame anyone.” In another occurrence, Rep. Ivar Jones, from Margibi County District Two, reported finding blood on his office door. Like his counterpart, he also took to social media to update the public. He referenced a biblical passage, Isaiah 54:17, which assures, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper…”

Rep. Jones noted that this represented the first occurrence of such an unsettling incident in his office during his tenure which began in 2017. Both lawmakers have shared their experiences publicly, emphasizing the oddity of these events.
