The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall anticipated from Sunday through Tuesday. On Sunday, significant rainfall is expected across several regions, including parts of Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, with intensity increasing to over 30mm on Monday. The rainfall will subsequently spread to Northwestern Kenya, followed by a gradual decline on Tuesday.

Additional counties forecasted to experience these heavy rains include Kericho, Bomet, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori, Busia, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West Pokot. Furthermore, counties such as Turkana, Marsabit, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nairobi, Machakos, and Kajiado are also under advisories for heavy rainfall.

Kenyans and motorists are urged to maintain vigilance due to the potential for floods, flash floods, and reduced visibility on the roads. The weatherman cautioned, “Avoid sheltering under trees or near grilled windows (lightning risk).”
