Qatar has urged that all Israeli nuclear facilities be placed under IAEA supervision during an IAEA session. The Qatari Ambassador, Jassim Yacoup Al-Hammadi, reiterated calls for Israel to sign the NPT amid concerns over its unacknowledged nuclear arsenal.

During a recent session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Qatar called for all nuclear facilities in Israel to be placed under international supervision. Qatar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Jassim Yacoup Al-Hammadi, emphasized the importance of compliance with international resolutions, urging Israel to sign the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). Despite reports suggesting that Israel possesses several hundred nuclear warheads, the country has neither confirmed this nor signed the NPT treaty.

Qatar’s appeal for the oversight of Israeli nuclear facilities highlights ongoing concerns regarding nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. The call for Israel to join the NPT reflects a broader desire for global regulatory frameworks to be applied to all nuclear-armed states, reinforcing the international community’s commitment to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
