The President expressed hope for further strengthening of amicable bilateral and multilateral relations with Italy. He also recalled his participation in the Italy-Africa summit held in January 2024, showcasing the spirit of ongoing collaboration between the two nations.
During his visit, Ambassador Coppola, accompanied by Honorary Consul Saverio Grillone, engaged in discussions with several key Comorian ministers. Meetings were held with Aboubacar Said Anli, Minister of Energy, Water and Hydrocarbons; Daniel Ali Bandar, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Handicrafts; and Abubakar Ben Mahmoud, Minister of Environment and Tourism, who all advocated for increased Italian presence in the archipelago.
Further dialogues included meetings with Ambassador Imam Abdillah, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they explored innovative avenues to enhance bilateral relations. Topics centered around Italy’s initiatives in waste management, renewable energy, and university cooperation were major points of discussion.
The Ambassador also took time to meet with the local Italian community, which includes notable figures such as Stefano Cusin, the head coach of the Comorian national football team and former Italian Serie A player.
