This acquisition complements Rosh Pinah Zinc’s expansion project, RP2.0, aimed at significantly increasing ore production. The solar power agreement is expected to supply 30% of the energy needed for this expansion while fixing energy costs, resulting in an 8% reduction over the next 15 years.

Appian plans to enhance the solar facility’s capacity from 5.4 megawatts to 16.3 megawatts, which would substantially lower carbon emissions by 14,000 tons per year. This reduction is comparable to the impact of planting 20,000 trees, underscoring a significant advancement in environmental preservation.

Emesco Energy will maintain operations at the solar plant, ensuring effective implementation of the expansion. This project draws on Appian’s extensive experience from similar initiatives in Brazil. Moreover, as Namibia largely depends on energy imports, the increase in local energy generation from this initiative represents a considerable benefit.
