Significant Support for Cancer Patients in Zimbabwe from Local Organizations

Cancer patients in Zimbabwe, especially children, benefit from a joint donation by CABS, TM Pick n Pay, and First Capital Bank, providing chemotherapy drugs and financial support totaling over US$110,000. The initiative addresses the dire need for assistance in the battle against cancer and enhances treatment resources for affected families.
A significant boost has been provided to cancer patients in Zimbabwe, including children, following substantial donations of chemotherapy drugs and financial aid from two banks and a leading supermarket. This effort aimed to support two cancer care organizations, highlighting the necessity of assistance for those affected by this disease.
During the donation ceremony, CABS Chief Financial Officer Valerie Muyambo remarked on the profound impact cancer has on Zimbabwean families. She underscored the importance of ensuring that no child faces the battle against cancer alone, stating that organizations like KidzCan serve as vital support systems for families during their challenging times.
Muyambo pointed out that this marks the second consecutive year of CABS’ collaboration with TM Pick n Pay in combating childhood cancer. The initiative, launched in February, was a successful campaign where CABS donated US$30,000 for chemotherapy drugs, leveraging their donation strategy with each transaction made at TM Pick n Pay stores.
Highlighting the power of collaboration, Muyambo conveyed optimism about their joint efforts making a tangible difference in the lives of affected children. TM Pick n Pay Chief Financial Officer Gamu Nyamuzinga announced a donation of US$80,000 worth of drugs, with collaborative contributions of US$50,000 from TM Pick n Pay and US$30,000 from CABS to enhance treatment availability.
Nyamuzinga expressed pride in their partnership, noting, “This collaboration exemplifies what we can achieve when we work together for a common cause.” He also disclosed a further allocation of US$30,000 for child welfare, specifically for food and transportation aid to ensure families can access necessary treatment without financial strain.
Additionally, First Capital Bank Chief Executive Officer Tapera Mushoriwa emphasized the bank’s commitment to enhancing cancer care during a separate donation event at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, in partnership with Cancerserve. Cancerserve Trust representative Anna Nyakabau called for a united approach in the fight against cancer, encouraging more organizations to actively contribute to improving cancer treatment and care in Zimbabwe.
This collaborative effort among CABS, TM Pick n Pay, and First Capital Bank demonstrates a significant commitment to supporting Zimbabwean cancer patients, particularly children. The combination of financial support and essential chemotherapy drugs will enhance treatment availability and alleviate some burdens on affected families. The event underscores the necessity of unified action among organizations to promote cancer care in the community.
