Niger Assembly Confirms Appointments of NSERC Chairman and Commissioners

The Niger State House of Assembly confirmed the NSERC chairman and commissioners, following the governor’s proposal. The appointments aim to strengthen the electricity regulatory commission, with individuals encouraged to apply their expertise for the state’s advancement.
The Niger State House of Assembly has officially sanctioned the appointments of the chairman and commissioners of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC). This affirmation occurred after Governor Mohammed Umar Bago submitted the nominees through an official correspondence, which was presented by Speaker Hon. Muhammad Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji during the recent plenary session.
During the session, Speaker Sarkin Daji noted that Governor Bago acted in accordance with his constitutional authority under the amended 1999 Constitution of Nigeria to propose the appointees for the assembly’s approval. The individuals confirmed include Engr. Dr. Mohammed Sharu as chairman, Engr. Dr. Maiwada S. Bello for enforcement and consumer affairs, and Dr. Muhammad Ameen Shakur as commissioner for licensing and regulations.
Additionally, Engr. Jiro Ahmed Mohammed has been appointed as commissioner for rural electricity access management, while Adamu Nagogo will serve as commissioner for finance and administration. The Speaker extended his congratulations to the newly appointed officials, urging them to utilize their extensive expertise to contribute positively to the progress of Niger State.
The Niger State House of Assembly has validated the appointments for the NSERC, as forwarded by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago. The confirmed officials are expected to leverage their experience to enhance the state’s electricity regulatory framework, thereby promoting development and efficiency in Niger State’s electricity sector.
