Bank Windhoek has announced a substantial enhancement in home financing for the upcoming year, financing 427 homes valued at approximately N$600 million. This represents an impressive 24% increase in value compared to the previous year. The bank’s Chief Financial Officer, Zenaune Kamberipa, emphasized the positive outlook for homeownership given the recent reductions in the repo rate, which has made financing more accessible despite rising property prices.

On March 7, Bank Windhoek celebrated this achievement by hosting its annual Central Estate Agent Awards in Windhoek, acknowledging the vital contributions of real estate agents. Kamberipa pointed out that amid an inflation rate of 4.5%, the decreased repo rate has created significant opportunities for families to enter the property market. He stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in the industry to support homeownership initiatives.

Maureen Platt, the bank’s Head of Property Finance, noted that 2024 is shaping up to be promising for the real estate sector. She highlighted the essential relationship between real estate agents and Bank Windhoek, stating their commitment to fostering a sustainable future for Namibia.

During the awards ceremony, Rightmove Properties Windhoek CC was recognized as the top achiever in transaction volumes exceeding N$25 million, followed by Okomita Property Development CC and Just Property Group CC. Jacko Koen from Okomita Properties remarked that the drop in interest rates has positively influenced property demand, leading to the development of Osona Village with various new amenities.

Marion Wolf and Lourette Liebenberg from Rightmove Properties expressed optimism for 2024, noting their focus on client service and collaborative efforts with Bank Windhoek’s consultants, which contributed to their successes. Schantal Teichmann from the Just Property Group reflected on the beneficial collaboration with the bank, anticipating continued success in property sales for 2025. The annual awards celebrate the dedication of residential and commercial real estate professionals from various regions who support Bank Windhoek and its clientele.

In conclusion, Bank Windhoek’s substantial increase in home financing signifies a positive trend in the real estate market, driven by favorable economic conditions and strategic partnerships with real estate agents. The annual Central Estate Agent Awards not only recognize the achievements of real estate professionals but also highlight the importance of collaboration in fostering homeownership and enhancing community growth in Namibia.
