CONAB Forecasts Significant Brazil Soybean and Corn Production Gains

CONAB has significantly raised its projections for Brazil’s soybean and corn crops, anticipating soybean production at 167.37 million tons and corn at 122.76 million tons. These estimates suggest strong agricultural output and potential competition for U.S. exports. Updates from CONAB and USDA are due on April 10th.
Brazil’s National Supply Company (CONAB) continues to forecast significant soybean and corn yields in the country. The estimated soybean production has reached 167.37 million tons, reflecting a 13% increase compared to 2024, with both yield and acreage surpassing last year’s figures.
Corn production is also expected to increase, projected at 122.76 million tons, marking a 6% rise from last year. This includes a month-to-month adjustment in the first crop’s yield to 24.857 million tons, compensating for a minor reduction in the second crop, now set at 95.516 million tons. Additionally, the third crop is estimated at 2.387 million tons.
While CONAB’s estimates are below those of the USDA, they still indicate robust output, which could increase competition for U.S. exports in the upcoming months. Notably, Brazil’s soybean harvest has advanced beyond 60%, and over 80% of the second crop corn has been planted, both exceeding average progress.
Furthermore, CONAB anticipates that the production of cotton, rice, and sorghum will also exceed estimates for 2024. The next updates from both CONAB and the USDA will be available on April 10th.
In summary, CONAB’s projections for Brazil’s soybean and corn crops indicate significant increases, positioning Brazil as a strong competitor in the global market. The remarkable progress in harvest and planting, along with optimistic forecasts for other crops, emphasizes Brazil’s agricultural strength. As both CONAB and USDA prepare to release updated estimates, stakeholders are advised to monitor these developments closely.
