Egypt and Jordan welcomed President Trump’s assertion that no Palestinians would be expelled from Gaza. This statement contrasts with earlier proposals, leading to appreciation from various stakeholders, including Hamas. An Arab-led reconstruction plan is being promoted to assist Gaza’s recovery, reflecting broader regional diplomatic efforts.

Egypt and Jordan have welcomed statements made by United States President Donald Trump, asserting that no Palestinians will be expelled from the Gaza Strip. This announcement raises questions regarding potential modifications to Trump’s prior proposal of U.S. control over Gaza, which he previously suggested could be transformed into a luxurious destination while relocating Palestinians to neighboring countries. In response to a question from the media about possible discussions on expelling Palestinians, Trump affirmed, “Nobody will expel the Palestinians.”

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed appreciation for Trump’s commitment to retaining Gazan residents, while Jordan’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the significance of achieving a fair and lasting peace consistent with the two-state solution. Moreover, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem indicated that Trump’s statements were positively received in Gaza, illustrating a shift in sentiments on the matter.

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), represented by secretary-general Hussein al-Sheikh, also voiced gratitude towards the U.S. President for affirming that Gaza’s inhabitants will not be compelled to vacate their homeland. In response to Trump’s past approach, Arab states have proposed an alternative plan led by Egypt, featuring a $53 billion budget for the reconstruction of Gaza following extensive damage from prolonged conflict. This proposal outlines a five-year timeline for recovery and governance in the region, receiving endorsement from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and supporting nations such as the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.

In summary, the recent remarks by President Trump regarding the non-expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza were positively received by Egypt, Jordan, and various Palestinian representatives. This development suggests a possible shift from previous policies towards a more diplomatic approach. Additionally, an alternative reconstruction plan led by Arab states aims to rebuild Gaza, reinforcing the call for peace and stability in the region.
