IGAD Leaders Emphasize Dialogue for Resolution of South Sudan Conflict

The summit directed the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanisms (CTSAMVM) to investigate recent clashes and ensure accountability for violations.

Furthermore, IGAD leaders encouraged grassroots peace dialogues and the involvement of civil society, religious, and traditional leaders to bolster reconciliation efforts and promote the empowerment of marginalized groups, including women and youth. The assembly was chaired by Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, President of Djibouti, with notable participation from various regional leaders and representatives.
