MTN Nigeria to Establish New Headquarters in Eko Atlantic City

The CEO of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, confirmed this development during the launch of MyLagosApp, revealing that the company’s new headquarters will be built in Eko Atlantic, a decision made four years after initial plans were laid out. Eko Atlantic City, initiating land reclamation in 2008, is strategically located adjacent to Victoria Island, Lagos’ core business district, and aims to become the city’s premier commercial zone. Although the exact construction cost for the new headquarters was not disclosed, industry sources suggest it will be substantial. Land prices in Eko Atlantic City vary significantly based on multiple factors, with Phase 1 and Phase 2 dedicated to mid- to high-rise developments, starting at approximately $1,150 per square meter. In contrast, Phase 3, earmarked for low-rise residential properties, is priced at $1,050 per square meter.

Furthermore, MTN Nigeria is also in the process of constructing the largest Tier 4 data center in West Africa. This facility will feature 1,500 racks and function as a carrier-neutral hub that enables interconnectivity between various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and cloud service providers. Toriola indicated that while this data center will not be located in Eko Atlantic, it will significantly enhance Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
