Mushtaq Ahmed Likely to Receive Two-Year Extension with Bangladesh Cricket Board

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials announced on Thursday that Mushtaq Ahmed, the spin consultant, is anticipated to receive a two-year extension in his role. Final touches on the contract are yet to be completed, however, both parties aim to formalize the agreement shortly.
A senior BCB official informed Cricbuzz that Mushtaq Ahmed is expected to work for approximately 130 days each year, contributing beyond just the national team. “He (Mushtaq) will act as the spin consultant of the board… and we would like to have his service in other areas as well to groom our spinners like the High Performance Unit and other programs,” they stated.
Mushtaq Ahmed, a renowned Pakistani leg-spin bowler and 1992 World Cup champion, began his tenure with the Bangladesh men’s national team in April 2024. His initial role was as spin bowling coach until the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
After a brief hiatus due to personal obligations, Mushtaq rejoined the team in time for the home series against South Africa and contributed to the coaching dynamic during the Champions Trophy as well. With a career tally of 185 Test wickets and 161 ODI wickets, he previously served as spin bowling coach for England, West Indies, and Pakistan.
