Nepal Requests Egypt’s Assistance in Securing Hostage Release of Bipin Joshi

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s mediating roles and urged Al-Sisi to persist in his diplomatic initiatives to secure Joshi’s release. In response, President Al-Sisi assured that Egypt would focus on facilitating the release of Joshi and other remaining hostages. Currently, the situation of Joshi, who was participating in a “Learn and Earn” program in Israel, remains unclear. He was abducted alongside 250 others during a recent surge in violence.

Separately, President Al-Sisi acknowledged Nepal’s initiative to host the Sagarmatha Sambad, an international dialogue on climate change and environmental sustainability. Prime Minister Oli extended an invitation to Al-Sisi to participate in this forum, emphasizing the importance of global cooperation in addressing climate issues. The first edition of Sagarmatha Sambad is scheduled for May 16 to 18 in Kathmandu, focusing on the theme “Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity.” The event aims to gather 160 to 200 foreign delegates, including heads of state and experts in the field.

The discussions between both leaders also encompassed the enhancement of bilateral relations, multilateral cooperation, and forthcoming high-level visits between their nations.
