Lebanon’s Information Minister Engages with UNESCO on Media Projects

Lebanon’s Information Minister Paul Morcos met with UNESCO’s Costanza Farina to discuss media initiatives, including combating hate speech and fake news, with a focus on upcoming projects scheduled for March 19. The meeting also addressed the importance of preserving Télé Liban’s historical footage through the provision of new equipment.
On March 14, 2025, Lebanon’s Information Minister, Paul Morcos, convened a meeting with Costanza Farina, the Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office in Beirut, at Télé Liban’s headquarters. Accompanying her were UNESCO officials Georges Awad, the Media and Communications Officer, and the Head of the Media Education Unit, to discuss collaborative media projects.
The discussions encompassed various topics, including current initiatives between UNESCO and the Ministry of Information, a forthcoming meeting in Beirut on March 19, and strategies to combat hate speech, address fake news, and explore the implications of artificial intelligence on media.
Minister Morcos expressed the importance of the meeting, stating, “We discussed several key points regarding securing the support that has been repeatedly deliberated. We reached clear outcomes, including the imminent delivery of several cameras and specialized equipment for archiving Télé Liban’s historical footage, which is a valuable asset for the Lebanese people. The date has been set for March 19.”
