In his remarks, President Duda pointed out that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Mongolia. He expressed optimism regarding the recent intensification of cooperation, asserting, “We both hope that the recent intensification of our cooperation will lead to significant progress in many areas in the coming years.”
The leaders addressed the ongoing situation in Ukraine, underscoring their mutual desire for a just and stable peace to avert further conflicts that could affect cultural and economic relations. Notably, multiple agreements were signed during this visit to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including a five-year strategic cooperation plan outlining joint initiatives for the future.
Additionally, agreements were forged between academic institutions to foster closer scientific and educational collaboration. A memorandum of understanding between Poland’s Office for Registration of Medicinal Products and Mongolia’s Drug Regulatory Agency was established to promote regulatory cooperation in healthcare.
A new partnership was initiated between Poland’s War Studies Academy and Mongolia’s military educational institution, while media collaboration was advanced through agreements between Polish public broadcaster TVP and Mongolia’s National Broadcaster, as well as between the Polish Press Agency and Montsame, Mongolia’s state news agency.
Moreover, the cultural landscape was enriched through a film production partnership between Poland’s Documentary and Feature Film Studio and Mongolia’s Mongolkino. The discussion also extended to Poland’s aspirations for infrastructure development in Mongolia and investment opportunities across various sectors such as heavy industry, agriculture, and tourism.
President Khürelsükh recalled President Duda’s visit to Mongolia in April 2023, emphasizing that agreements from that trip are now being materialized. He remarked, “The initiatives we discussed today will deliver tangible benefits for both countries and their citizens,” reflecting on the growing trade relations, where Poland emerged as Mongolia’s third-largest trading partner in the EU.
In 2022, Mongolia’s coal exports to Poland amounted to approximately USD 1.9 million, while Polish exports to Mongolia exceeded USD 1 billion since 2005, reflecting an annual growth rate of 12% from 2020 to 2024. Key Polish exports include machinery, food products, chemicals, and agricultural goods.
