Furthermore, Minister Diab noted that this initiative is a crucial step by the Qatar Fund for Development to bolster Syria’s energy sector and assist in achieving stability and economic growth. Recently, Qatar announced its plans to assist Syria with natural gas supplies through Jordan to bolster electricity generation. Syria is currently grappling with significant electricity shortages, often only receiving power for approximately four hours daily. Previously, Syria depended heavily on Iranian oil for electricity, but supplies have been disrupted since the political upheaval that ousted Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
