On March 17, Olivier Kayumba officially presented his letters of credence to President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic (CAR), affirming his role as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda in Bangui. Kayumba had previously served as the head of Rwanda’s diplomatic mission in CAR and was nominated for the ambassadorship in December of the prior year. His prior experience includes serving as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Emergency Management.

Rwanda and CAR have sustained robust diplomatic ties, with a notable commitment to peacekeeping missions organized by the United Nations. Moreover, Rwanda has actively participated in peacekeeping by deploying troops to CAR based on a bilateral agreement. Rwanda is also engaged in supporting the Central African Republic by aiding security sector reforms and training its armed forces, further enhancing their collaborative efforts.
