Gamerji is expanding its gaming-as-a-service model into countries such as India, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, supported by partnerships with telecom companies. The platform focuses on user incentives and skill-based gameplay while facing challenges like localization and cultural variance. Gamerji, an esports platform based in India, is set to expand its gaming-as-a-service model into India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Best known for titles like FIFA and Valorant, Gamerji has partnered with 34 telecom companies worldwide to integrate gaming into telecom applications and facilitate cross-border tournaments.

Sohan Thacker, founder of Gamerji, highlighted partnerships with prominent telecom companies, including Vodafone Idea in India and Du in the UAE, which have helped reach a user base of 65-70 million. Users earn virtual currency, which rewards them with incentives such as free data and bill discounts, thereby encouraging engagement through telecom apps. Utilizing AI technology, Gamerji matches users of similar skill sets to improve their gaming experience.

Thacker noted that initial skepticism from telecom companies about users engaging with more than just recharges has evolved into a robust B2B telecom revenue segment, accounting for 37% of Gamerji’s total revenues. Daily active users on the MyVI app number in the thousands, while foreign telecoms report 20,000-30,000 users, each having significant spending potential.

Despite the overall growth, Thacker acknowledged challenges such as data localization regulations, cultural preferences, and varying levels of game popularity in different regions, which complicate the establishment of scalable cross-country tournaments. The company looks to collaborate with federations for major esports events such as the Esports Olympics and the Southeast Sports World Cup in the future.

Gamerji is strategically focusing on expanding its gaming-as-a-service model in key regions, including India and the UAE, leveraging significant partnerships with telecom companies to attract millions of users. While facing regional challenges, the company remains optimistic about growth and aims to engage in major gaming events, highlighting its commitment to enhancing the esports landscape.
