Morocco and Mexico: Enhancing Parliamentary Cooperation and Women’s Representation

During their visit, the Moroccan delegation met with significant figures, including Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Martha Elena Patricio, Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee in the Chamber of Deputies. The delegation engaged in conversations with Cynthia López Castro and Anahí González Hernández, officials eager to enhance women’s legislative presence and share insights on supporting women’s political engagement.
Moreover, the discussions illuminated Morocco’s reforms promoting gender equality, particularly the constitutional principle of parity established in Article 19. They commended Mexico’s advancements, particularly following the election of Claudia Sheinbaum as the first female president, and noted improvements in gender parity within the Federal Congress and state governments.
