Ohlthaver & List Group will replace Pick n Pay Namibia with a new brand, Model, starting July 1, 2025. The transition signifies a return to O&L’s roots from 1965 and is expected to provide a fresh shopping experience tailored to Namibian consumers. Managing Director Graeme Mouton and Executive Chairman Sven Thieme express confidence in delivering quality and innovation in retail.

On July 1, a Namibian-owned retail brand named Model will replace Pick n Pay Namibia, as announced by Ohlthaver & List Group (O&L). This decision follows O&L’s announcement last year to terminate its franchise agreement with Pick n Pay South Africa after 27 years operating in Namibia.

Graeme Mouton, Managing Director of Model, indicated that the new brand will offer a refreshing and dynamic shopping experience, featuring selected high-quality products. He emphasized that customers can anticipate a grocery retail environment tailored to their needs, promising innovation that is distinctly Namibian.

Model is set for an official launch across Namibia on July 1, 2025, with preparations already underway to gradually implement the brand’s offerings through a phased refurbishment approach. Mouton expressed enthusiasm about embarking on this new retail journey and invited Namibians to be a part of it.

O&L’s Executive Chairman Sven Thieme remarked that this transition marks an important evolution in the company’s history, harking back to the brand’s origins in 1965. He affirmed that the commitment to both employees and customers remains steadfast, ensuring continued service quality alongside exciting new possibilities for growth.

In conclusion, the shift from Pick n Pay Namibia to the wholly Namibian brand Model represents a significant milestone for Ohlthaver & List Group. With plans for a dynamic retail experience that caters to local preferences, the transition promises to enhance the shopping landscape in Namibia. O&L remains focused on its long-standing commitment to both its employees and customers during this transformative period.
