Rafatu Inusah has been elected as the President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for a term of four years. Inusah, previously a Board Member, ascended to this role unopposed, succeeding Herbert Mensah, who is now serving as the President of Africa Rugby. Inusah possesses a rich background as an athlete, coach, and administrator, positioning her effectively to guide Ghana Rugby into a promising future.
Inusah has articulated her vision for Ghana Rugby, emphasizing a commitment to collective effort: “We are going to tirelessly work together to make sure that Ghana Rugby is well represented. I am happy and proud of all of us, not myself and very humbled.” She will be joined by Vice-President Emmanuel Bamfi as they focus on revitalizing the sport and enhancing Ghana Rugby’s presence on the continental front.
The elections witnessed the attendance of prominent figures such as World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert and Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, acting Director General of the National Sports Authority. During the event, new board members were also elected unopposed, including Prince Kwaku, Emmanuel Kalos, Abdul Saeed Samed, and SaCut Amenga-Etego. Anita Atieku will fulfill the role of Women’s Representative.
Inusah inherits a union built on a solid foundation, courtesy of her predecessor Herbert Mensah, under whose leadership Ghana Rugby became a full member of World Rugby and Rugby Africa in 2017. Inusah’s task will be to capitalize on this success and advance Ghana Rugby to new levels.
With her wealth of experience and dedication to the sport, Inusah is well-positioned to influence the future of Ghana Rugby significantly. As she embarks on this new journey, the Ghanaian rugby community places its hopes on her leadership, anticipating her success warmly.
In conclusion, Rafatu Inusah’s election as the President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union marks a significant milestone for the organization. With her extensive experience and a clear vision for the future, she is poised to enhance Ghana Rugby’s representation and performance. Alongside Vice-President Emmanuel Bamfi and a newly elected board, Inusah aims to build upon the solid groundwork laid by her predecessor, Herbert Mensah, to elevate Ghana Rugby to new heights of achievement.
