Renamo has called on its members to respect internal structures and express grievances through formal channels amidst recent closures of provincial delegations, prompted by dissatisfied party members. Spokesperson Marcial Macome emphasized the importance of resolution within party bodies and condemned radical actions that hinder progress.

Renamo, a political party in Mozambique, has urged its members to trust and respect the party’s internal structures while advocating for the use of established channels to express any organizational concerns. This call to order came from spokesperson Marcial Macome, addressing recent acts of vandalism and the closure of provincial delegations initiated by members dissatisfied with the leadership and political positioning of the party.

Macome emphasized that discomfort or disagreements should be addressed within the party’s institutional framework, stating, “Any situation that causes discomfort or disagreement should be resolved within the party’s bodies.” He further indicated that radical actions, such as closing delegations, are unproductive and detrimental to the party’s progress since its inception.

The spokesperson underscored the importance of tolerance and mutual understanding among party members, noting that, “Whatever the demands, they must be borne in mind that the party will not grow if the institutions are closed.” He clarified that the recent closures were executed by party members and disgruntled demobilized fighters, but emphasized that Renamo no longer categorizes them as guerrillas. Instead, they are demobilized fighters represented by the Association of Fighters of the Struggle for Democracy (ACOLDE).

Moreover, Macome revealed that the party is not yet formally informed of the specific reasons behind the closures and urged members to submit their concerns through appropriate channels. He stated, “What is clear is that they wanted the National Council to be held,” indicating that a postponement occurred due to unforeseen circumstances that would eventually be rescheduled appropriately.

In summary, Renamo remains committed to fostering internal dialogue and resolving conflicts through established party structures. The spokesperson’s remarks highlight the detrimental effects of radical actions such as closure of delegations on the party’s democratic progress. As the party encourages unity and understanding, it calls on members to express their concerns formally and channel them through the proper avenues.
