The New York State Thruway Authority has officially announced the opening of the Angola Service Area on I-90, enhancing travel experiences for motorists. This area is the 26th to reopen as part of a comprehensive $450 million project aimed at modernizing all 27 service stations along the route, highlighting an important phase in the Service Area Redevelopment Project.
The Angola Service Area features a variety of dining options, including Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express. Additionally, Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon are scheduled to open soon. There are three Starbucks locations within the area, one located in the restaurant building and two more as Drive-Thru options on both eastbound and westbound sides.
Further amenities at the Angola Service Area comprise outdoor seating, dog walking areas on both sides, and a private nursing area designed for convenience. Travelers will find digital tourism kiosks and four high-speed EV chargers, although the latter will be available at a later date.
With the completion of the Angola Service Area, the Thruway Authority marks significant progress in its redevelopment efforts, ensuring that all service areas along I-90 from Albany to the Pennsylvania state line are now operational. Thruway Authority Executive Director Frank G. Hoare commented on the achievement, emphasizing the project’s impact on enhancing safety and the reliability of the transportation system.
