Armenia Reaffirms Peace Initiatives Amid Ceasefire Allegations from Azerbaijan

In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Armenia addressed allegations made by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence from March 16 to 18, which claimed six ceasefire violations by Armenian forces. “After the above mentioned reports, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia conducted inspection works and as a result of the inspection it refuted the claims about ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia,” the statement indicated.
Furthermore, Armenia’s Ministry of Defence reminded Azerbaijan of a proposal from June 22, 2024, regarding a joint mechanism aimed at investigating ceasefire violations. “Azerbaijan hasn’t given a positive response to this day,” the statement emphasized. On March 17, Armenia expressed readiness to investigate any substantiated reports from Azerbaijan, contingent upon their delivery to Armenia.
The Prime Minister’s Office noted, “as of this moment, not a single fact or substantiation about ceasefire violation by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia has been conveyed by the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Armenia.” The statement affirmed that there is no directive for Armenian forces to breach the ceasefire, highlighting a commitment to a peaceful agenda.
Armenia also urged Azerbaijan to engage in discussions regarding the date and location for signing a peace agreement. The draft agreement is said to address vital peace-related issues and establish frameworks for future discussions.
